Put simply, we love where we live. That’s why we decided to share our haven in the hills and create a luxury farm glamping experience, Noddfa, here at Penygraig Farm near Machynlleth.
Penygraig (or ‘top of the rock’ in English) is perched 600m above sea level in the Mid Wales mountains. Up here, the air is fresh, the slopes are lush and green, and there’s nowhere more peaceful. It’s the perfect location for our deluxe geodesic dome with hot tub (and other lovely luxuries). And the ultimate holiday destination for anyone wanting to escape to the countryside.
Noddfa itself sits on lands steeped in Welsh myth and legend. Tucked away between the rugged heights of Plynlimon to the south, and Cadair Idris and Aran Fawddwy, in Snowdonia, lies our ancient hamlet of Darowen (Owen’s oak). Situated within the boundary of three bronze age standing stones, it’s a place where people have sought refuge since pre-Christian times. To this day, the calming air of sanctuary remains – it’s one of the things we love most, and hope you will too.
Farming these slopes has been a labour of love for five generations of our family. Although farm glamping is a new and exciting part of our lives, we still work the land – all 350 acres of it. Penygraig is home to feisty sheep, curious cows, chickens, goats and Ricky, the shrewdest sheepdog in the West. Whatever the weather, you’ll see us, Iwan and Trina, out and about on the farm, feeding, fixing and generally making sure our animals and pastures are well taken care of.
It’s been an interesting journey to get to where we are now, but worth every step. If you’d like to know more about our Noddfa farm glamping journey, check out Channel 5’s ‘Our Family Farm Rescue’ with Adam Henson, or hop over to our News page.
Watch this space for more holiday accommodation coming soon to Noddfa. Although our glamorous geodesic dome is the star attraction at the moment, we’ll be adding a log cabin and tree house in the near future. So, make sure to check back on the website or follow us on Twitter / FB / Instagram for updates.
